5 Cider Recipes You Have to Try This Fall

October 20, 2015

It's pretty chilly here on the water, and we have had a frost. Now is the perfect time to enjoy some fresh cider. If you are lucky enough to have your own apple tree, you may not know it, but the fruit is so much sweeter once it gets a light frost, but you have to work fast. Up here in Maine, most of us have our own apple press and it's high time to make the year's cider. After saving jars and jugs the rest of the year, we fill container after container of this sweet nectar, and freeze most of it for the cold months. Some is made into hard cider, and some cooked down into apple glazes and syrups. Even more is used as a main ingredient for flavoring everything from meats to medicines. If you ever have the delightful problem of having too much apple cider, you can always make some tasty vinegar and that will keep nearly forever.

Meanwhile, here are some very tasty ways to use up some of this delicious fall beverage.
