Marble Fudge Sandwich Cookies

Ingredients

cup butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces, melted
Chocolate icing:
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons milk

Preparation

1
Cream butter, shortening and sugars until fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla, baking soda and salt; beat well. Stir in flour. Add chocolate and nuts to half the dough. If necessary, chill for easier handling. Roll ½ tsp of each dough together. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten to about 1/8-inch thickness with a glass dipped in sugar or a floured fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool. Place flat sides of two cookies together with icing, sandwich style.
2
To make the icing, melt together butter, chocolate and milk. Stir in confectioner's sugar. If necessary, think with additional milk until of spreading consistency.
