Vincent Kartheiser says Waitress Spat in his Food Because of 'Mad Men' Character

Vincent Kartheiser admits that fans of Man Men will often forget that the show is fiction and mistake him for his on-screen character, Pete Campbell. Kartheiser recalls one instance when a waitress actually spat in his food before realizing that she wasn't in an episode of Mad Men. 

"The worst abuse I get is from people who don't know who I am," the actor said. "I was in a restaurant and the waitress didn't realize who I was. All she could remember is that she hated me. She spat in my food, but then was like, 'Wait! I'm so sorry! You play Pete Campbell! I thought I knew you!"
