This Southern pear salad recipe, a throwback from the 50s, combines an unusual trio of ingredients: canned pears, Cheddar cheese and mayonnaise. In this case, the old adage it true - opposites do attract. This dish would make a perfect quick and easy side dish to your Easter dinner menu.
Southern Pear Salad
Serves 3-6
1 can pear halves, chilled
Mayonnaise
1 cup Cheddar cheese, grated
6 leaves Bibb or Iceberg lettuce
Drain pears from can, place in bowl and chill in refrigerator
Place one or two pear halves on one lettuce leaf
Place about 1 tsp of mayonnaise on each pear half and top with shredded Cheddar cheese
