Food Wishes shares a step by step video to create the perfect buttermilk fried chicken. Chicken pieces are seasoned with dried herbs and spices and marinated in buttermilk for at least six hours. Just before frying, the chicken is dredged in seasoned flour. The key to crispy fried chicken is monitoring the oil temperature. Use a candy thermometer to maintain the temperature around 350 degrees Fahrenheit. You can fry the chicken in a cast iron skillet, deep fryer or Dutch oven. Once you've made your own buttermilk fried chicken, you'll never want to go through the drive-thru again.
