Salt and pepper
12 plain brats (Johnsonville is my favorite)

Heat lard or oil on medium heat for about 1 minute
2
Add onions and turn up heat to me-hi, cook until edges start to brown (season with salt and pepper as desired)

Reduce heat to me-low and cook until onions are soft and mostly brown
4
Return to med heat and add garlic and cook for one minute (stir well)
5
Add hot sauce and cook for about 30 seconds
6
Add Budweiser and bring to a medium boil

10
Brats are finished when they start to "pop" from the casing
11
Turn off, you are ready to grill
12
Place brats on grill and char ( this won't take too long)
13
Strain mixture and reserve onions and garlic for topping and beer for holding
14
