Ingredients
1 pound ziti
1/2 onion, chopped, for flavor
Ricotta cheese
2 jars pasta sauce
8 ounce bag of shredded mozzarella cheese
Grated Parmesan cheese
Italian seasoning for flavor
Preparation
1
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add ziti pasta, and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes; drain.
2
Take half of the cooked and drained ziti and put it in a layer in a baking dish. Sprinkle half of the chopped onions in with it. Cover bottom layer with the ricotta cheese, spreading it evenly. (If you want to make this a meaty dish, you could brown some ground beef and mix it into the layers as well.)
3
Take the second half of the ziti and make the second layer. Sprinkle in the rest of the onions. Pour in the 2 jars of pasta sauce; sprinkle in some Italian seasoning for flavor.
4
Top off the ziti bake with the shredded mozzarella. Spread evenly. Sprinkle in some grated Parmesan cheese with the mozzarella topping if desired.
5
Put ziti bake into the oven at 350 degrees and let it bake for 30 – 40 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
