Memorial day is synonymous with grilling and especially grilling burgers. But what is a burger without a bun? Just a patty? For those of you adhering to a gluten-free diet, this recipe for hamburger buns will make you feel part of the crew without letting your dietary restrictions get in the way. If you are looking for a delicious burger recipe to cook during the holiday, check out my previous blog post on Memorial Day burgers.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup warm water, about 115 degrees
2 1/4 cups blanched almond flour
1 cup arrowroot flour
2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons xanthan gum
1 teaspoon guar gum
2 eggs
2 tablespoons olive oil+ extra for brushing
1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Set aside. (If it doesn't puff up you need to start over)
Roll into 5 equal sized balls and place on a greased cookie sheet (or 4 x-large ones). Slightly flatten with the palm of your hand.
Cover and allow to rise for 25-30 minutes in a warm spot.
Hint- I placed a salt shaker in the middle of my cookie sheet before I covered it with a kitchen towel so the towel didn't stick to the buns.
