Monday evening, California-based Taylor Farms Pacific joined the grape tomato recall from earlier this week. Grower and distributor, Six L's announced on Sunday that a single batch of grape tomatoes had been contaminated with salmonella. The contamination was detected during a random test by the USDA at a distributor in New York. The lot was recalled and pulled from grocery store produce aisles - no illnesses have been reported.
Late this evening, Taylor Farms came forward with concerns that the tainted tomatoes had also been used in the production of "a long list of salads" for grocery stores along the West Coast: Albertsons, Raley's, Safeway, Savemart, Sam's Club and Walmart stores.
The whole tomatoes, grown in Estero, FL were distributed in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, Georgia and Canada. Taylor Farms said its salads with the recalled tomatoes were sent to Arizona, Oregon, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Idaho, Montana, Washington, Nebraska, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.
