360i Publishes Social Media Food Photography Statistics

Chew on this: Seventy-two percent of all food photography focuses on a main meal rather than a snack, with dinner being the most-photographed meal by far. Of users who share their culinary captures through social media sites, 25 percent do so as part of a daily food diary. These were just a few of 360i's findings when the interactive agency explored the statistics on photos uploaded to social image platforms such as Flickr, Facebook and Picasa.

The food photography statistics are insightful. We're twice as likely to photograph sweets and desserts, for example, than seafood, junk food, fruit, nuts, beans, breakfast food, sandwiches and tofu. Just 8 percent of all food photography is done as a part of a critique or restaurant review. The full infographic appears below.
