Cookie Controversy Continues- Girl Scouts Fighting Back

May 27, 2011

The controversy over the use of unsustainable palm oil in girl scout cookies rages on. Madison Vorva and Rhiannon Tomtishen, are quickly becoming environmental activists in addition to being Girl Scouts. They are on a mission to get the Scouts to switch to a more sustainable oil for the cookies. With the backing of  Union of Concerned Scientists, the Center for Biological Diversity, Cultural Survival, Orangutan Foundation International, and Rainforest Action Network, they've taken this battle public. To support the cause, you can sign the petition which will be sent to the head of the scouts.

The granddaughter of the founder of the cookies, agrees with Madison and Rhiannon. "Today, Ethel Jennings Newton would be ashamed of the destruction her inventiveness is causing in the lives of those powerless to stop it."

Girl Scout Cookies's picture

In this issue, I think the leaders of Girl Scout Society should revoke the permission that they issued to the gay child. This is a exclusive girl membership and it's a glaring violation of the organization.
