Now that you know all the hard work that goes into making wine corks, put the ones lying around your house to good use. Danny Seo has some great ideas for upcycling corks on his blog Daily Danny, like making this super-absorbable bath mat. All you need is a shadowbox, some patience, and lots o' corks.
Don't need a bathmat? A trivet is relatively easy to make using cork, and for the motivated type an upcycled cork bulletin board could be useful. And for those un-crafty types, check out this list of cork recycling options.
