Robert De Niro is planning to open a 25th location of the Nobu restaurant chain in Perth, Australia. The "Goodfellas" actor is co-owner of Nobu, and both he and chef Nobu Matsuhisa will be on location to open the restaurant and participate in the kagami biraki sake-barrel-breaking ceremony within the next few weeks.
De Niro and Matsuhisa chose to hire from within the company for the Perth location. Head chef Nicolas Mazier previously worked at Nobu Miami, while head sushi chef Asao Tsukayama comes from Nobu Los Angeles and Matsuhisa Beverly Hills. The restaurant's architect, Michael Fiebrich, designed it with a Japanese water garden in mind.
