LEGO League Inspires Food Safety Leaders

September 14, 2011

The little colored bricks we all loved as children, have come a long way over the years.

According to the FIRST LEGO League (FLL), has announced a 2011 FOOD FACTOR Challenge. Nearly 200,000 9-14 year olds from more than 60 countries, will participate in the exploring the topic of food safety, through examining possible points of contamination and inventing ways to advance food safety.

According to FLL, this challenge :

Provides a fun, creative and hands-on learning experience for young people about a real world issue. Each year FLL chooses an engaging theme which challenges the children to look at real issues facing scientists and engineers today. Food safety is a growing concern for people across the globe. Our children are not only learning hard skills of Science, Technology, Math and Engineering (STEM) programs, but they are learning equally important “soft” skills such as teamwork, communication, and presentation skills

The deadline to register teams for the FOOD FACTOR Challenge, is September 30th, or when all team slots have been filled.
