Let's create a bit of a scenario here. You're stranded outside and need to start a fire for warmth, but cannot find any kindling or other small bits of wood to start the fire. That said, you do have lots of snack food from your adventures that day, including several bags of Doritos, Cheetos and Fritos.
That's all you need. Turns out, chips work extremely well to start fires.
Reddit user imsabbel explains why:
All kind of chips work for that. Works as well as birch bark for starting a fire in a hurry. If you think about it, its basically pure hydrocarbons (which burn) soaked in fat (which burns).
Does that make anyone wonder if you should be putting this food in your body, though?
