As far as multitasking kitchen utensils go, it's tough to find one more sleek than the Tastall. This beech wood spoon has a built-in cutout for quick tastes of sauces and soups, and one edge is flattened to break apart ingredients like potatoes or tomatoes as they're in the pot.
The Tastall was designed by Ernest Perera; artisan Fontas Ferran shaped the beech wood. It's available through Amor de Madre.
