Even with China's shaky food safety record, they are ahead of the US when it comes to antibiotics as growth promoters in animal feed.
"The ban is supported by the academic community, which believes that without antibiotics in animal feed, the health of animals will be better promoted, microbes' resistance to antibiotics will be lowered and food will become safer to eat".
Let's hope that in this area, the US will follow China's lead and stop drugging the livestock. Antibiotic resistance bacteria is on the rise, so it makes sense for humans to ingest less.
