Diet Pepsi Switches Sweetener in Product

December 17, 2012

PepsiCo has made a quiet change to its diet soda by switching the sweetener it uses. The addition of acesulfame potassium has been added to help keep the drink longer and fresh. The change is to help compete against the Coca-Cola Company, whose regular soda and diet version rank No. 1 and No. 2 in soda category (whereas Pepsi sits at No. 3).

The change follows big branding moves (such as a $50 million deal with Beyonce) and their new campaign, "Love Every Sip."
