Make Irish Coffee At Home: The Ultimate Recipe
Big thanks to Jason for sharing his recipe for Irish coffee. Start with an Irish coffee glass like the one I'm holding.
Proper Irish Coffee
1) Heat the glass with hot water (then dump it out before making the drink)
2) Add a teaspoon of raw sugar
3) Pour 2oz of coffee into the glass and stir until the sugar is dissolved (Fonte Portofino blend done in a French press is ideal)
4) Pour in 1oz of Jameson Irish Whiskey
5) Fill the glass to about 1/4 inch from the top with hot coffee
6) Float 1/4 inch of fresh cream on top to the rim *
7) Drink through the cream and enjoy!
*For the cream, I pour heavy whipping cream into a small sealable bottle (I use a 10oz glass bottle that once held soda water and fill it 3/4 full of cream) and shake for a good 2 minutes, being careful not to turn the cream to butter. The final result should pour and float easily on top.
It really doesn't get any better than that!
Slainte!
