Fall comes on suddenly around here. It is my favorite time of year, because I can start baking again. My family appreciates my efforts, especially when I make cookies.
These Fall Harvest Apple Cookies are soft and flavorful, with a sweet glaze that will remind you of a donut. They are really tasty!
Fall Harvest Apple Cookie
1/2 cup lard
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 cup apple, grated
1 cup raisins
1/4 cup milk
Combine lard, sugar and egg until light and fluffy
In a separate bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and baking soda
Add to lard mixture, alternately with milk, until everything is combined
Stir in apple and raisins
Bake 350 for 15 minutes
Remove to cookie rack and glaze
Glaze
2 cups powdered sugar
1 Tbsp butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
3 Tbsp milk
Combine in a small bowl and drizzle over warm cookies
