Slow cooker apple butter from Fitness and Freebies is an easy way to enjoy this seasonal preserve. Since this recipe is all apple and no butter, you'll want to use the best apples you can get your hands on. I recommend visiting a farmer's market or apple orchard. Apple butter is delicious spread on scones, biscuits, and great in grilled cheese (especially with sharp cheddar).
Ingredients:
12 cups chopped, unpeeled apples
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup apple cider
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
