If you have been following the World Cup, you know that the last two teams left to duke it out for the championship title are Argentina and Germany. This pizza was created with the German fans in mind. Store bought pizza crust is slathered in apricot preserves and loaded with onion, sauerkraut, Monterey Jack cheese and authentic German bratwurst.
Bratwurst is a traditional German sausage made from pork, veal or a mixture of both. Unlike Italian sausage, bratwurst is more subtly flavored and usually seasoned with caraway seed, nutmeg, ginger, and sometimes garlic. You can cook the brats on the grill or simmer them in German beer. For this recipe, the sausage is mixed with the onion and sauerkraut before it tops the pizza.
Pop a couple of these German bratwurst pizzas before Sunday's final match.
