Post Thanksgiving Meals: 5 Turkey Sandwich Recipes

November 25, 2014

A turkey sandwich is the classic go-to after Thanksgiving meal.  Nothing is easier than piling roasted turkey on bread with the remaining leftovers including stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and gravy.  While I love this haphazard snadwich, I'm usually craving other flavors by the time hunger strikes again.  These five different and delicious sandwiches will inspire you to do something different with your Thanksgiving bird.

Turkey, Apple, and Brie Panini
Recipe from Intelligensia Living

You can't go wrong with melted brie cheese, turkey and crisp apple slices in a sandwich.  The combination of flavors come together magically in your mouth: creamy and nutty, meaty, tart and sweet.  I like to add leftover cranberry sauce to my panini to make the sandwich even more dynamic.

I love any recipe that has 5 ingredients or less, like this leftover turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich.  Instead of regular mayo, chipotle mayo is used to give the sandwich a subtle layer of heat.

A deli classic, a turkey Reuben is wonderful way to reinvent a classic.  Russian dressing, turkey, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Rye bread - what more could you want in a sandwich?

Turkey Cobb Sandwich
Recipe from Martha Stewart Living

The classic Californian salad is transformed into this irresistible sandwich.  Moist and juicy turkey breast are paired with creamy avocado, juicy tomato, blue cheese and a rich fried egg.  This delicious meal can be served for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Turkey Banh Mi
Recipe from Jamie Oliver

A banh mi is a traditional Vietnamese baguette sandwich that is filled with pickled carrots and daikon radish, sliced jalapeno, cilantro, and pate.  Instead of barbecued pork, add a few slices of turkey breast.  Feel free to slather on some hoisin sauce for sweetness.  Leftover chicken liver pate would be a lovel addition but it is not necessary.
