The other day I was in the grocery store and a bin of shiny potatoes caught my eye. They were shiny because they were each wrapped in their own individual plastic wrap. Each potato had a stick on label with instructions on how to bake them in the microwave. The label also said they were so much more convenient that way.
The real kicker was that each potato was $1.00. Right next to them was a bin of bagged organic potatoes for $3.98. What do you think about buying potatoes with their own plastic wrapper? Does it seem easier than tossing a plain potato into the microwave? I'm thinking that it is a brilliant marketing move, but incredibly wasteful.
