GMO battle between Germany and Monsanto Heats Up

May 17, 2011

Germany wouldn't play nice with Monsanto, when they decided to stop selling their GMO maize. Monsanto claims that this ban violates the EU rules and they will fight the ruling in court. Scientists are concerned that the pollen from this GMO crop will cross-pollinate and potentially destroy other native crops. Monsanto claims that new scientific evidence is needed before they can ban the corn. Germany is now the 6th country in the EU to ban GMO corn.

In other German GMO related news, the citizens are protesting over a patent to allow a genetic technique that breed meatier pigs. "The patent covers a breeding process that relies on a genetic marker for selecting pigs that fatten quickly and produce juicier meat. The particular gene is found only in certain pigs". There are about 20 different objections to the patent and an expert panel will be assessing the situation.

Just just like its pure race - just like Hitler wanted it. He liked organic too. I bet the cucumbers are organic too - nice and toxic
