Meatless Monday Mania

May 31, 2011

I know, it's not Monday, but Chris Elam, the Meatless Monday Program Director, announced this morning that more than half the country knows about Meatless Monday! 50.22%, to be exact. With over 30% growth over the past 6 months and no (zero, zilch, nada) advertising campaign -- neither paid nor pro bono. Meatless Monday is a public service campaign to help encourage healthier lifestyle choices by skipping the meat at least once per week. Not only does a meatless diet mean more money in your wallet (I was practically a vegetarian all through college for that reason!) but Meatless Monday reminds you that meatless means: limiting cancer risk, reducing heart disease risk factors, fighting diabetes, curbing obesity, increasing life expectancy and improving the variety of foods in your diet - yowza! And the benefits don't stop there! Chris also explains that going meatless has a powerful, positive impact on the environment.
