Earlier this week, the Hershey's website was hacked; unlike other high-profile online hacks, however, the only thing changed was a single recipe. Hershey's sent an email to its customers warning them of the hack, writing in part, "We recently discovered that an unauthorized individual accessed one of our websites and altered one of our baking recipes... we take the quality of our baking and cooking recipes very seriously."
The Hershey's team remedied the recipe error on its website and reassured consumers that while neither financial information nor online store data were compromised, it's possible that the hacker was able to access consumers' email addresses, passwords, street addresses and birthdays. Accordingly, the Hershey's website recommends its users to change their passwords.
