Today is National Banana Bread Day and we couldn't be happier! Banana bread is a warm, cozy recipe that everyone's grandma has given them. It's a wonderful recipe to have on hand for those bananas that seem to turn too brown for the lunchbox and your frugal size kicks in.
On the farm, bananas are a staple food. They are inexpensive and come in their own wrapper, so they are often tucked into book bags and always grabbed for last minute travel snacks. Despite how many we manage to eat, there are usually 3 or so bananas that don't get eaten in time. Once they become brown enough, out thoughts turn to banana bread. To celebrate banana bread this year, we thought we would share some of the banana bread recipes shared by Foodista contributors. Check these out:
Although banana bread is by nature, moist, this is even more so. You will love the warmth from the addition of nutmeg as well. It adds a Sunday morning feeling to the recipe that is delightful.
Forget the traditional walnuts and add pecans instead! You will love the creamy flavor and texture that pecans add to this tasty recipe.
With one child who is Gluten Free in the house, I would be remiss not to add a really good banana bread that is gluten free and kid friendly. This one is super moist and really flavorful. It's delightful for everyone in the family.
Being a bread machine fanatic, this recipe is a well loved bread at our place. It's just as moist as your grandma's, and so much easier-because the machine does all the work!
