Apples and Twinkies

I thought it might be fun to share the food experiences of a regular mom. I've been at this gig for twenty three years. Sometimes, I make an effort to put a great meal on the table, and sometimes I don't. Probably like you, I run out of ideas, life gets in the way, and the dynamics of the family change.

I love everything about food. Grocery stores are among my favorite places to hang out. I like shopping for food, preparing food, watching tv shows about food, reading about food, but I especially like eating food. Aside from showing you what we're eating in our home, I would also like to share with you some of my favorite restaurant and product reviews.

Think of this as a food blog for "every woman." I could be called a soccer mom, but I'd prefer not to be! I have three children, 23, 20 and 15. My 23 year old daughter is out on her own. My 20 year old son is away at college. And, my 15 year old son is, of course, living here, at home with my husband and me. All three kids are in and out a lot for meals. Luckily, nobody is a picky eater in this family. That has made cooking more fun and less of a chore.

I have always felt that food was central to the family experience. I always believed that sitting down to a family dinner every night was extremely important to my children's well being. The family dinner has been a fun time for us to connect with each other after a long and busy day. There are umpteen studies about the benefits of sitting down each night together for dinner. I believe every one of them.

I have some time now to tend to a food blog. I am not working because I have cancer. But, I don't let that define me. No, not at all.

So, go ahead and take a bite out of my life!
