We might not be alike as two peas, but my sister and I have one same affinity – our unconditional love of food! If I recall well what brought me so close to cuisine were these cooking magazines, which my aunt used to buy regularly. She had this whole collection of neatly filed magazines each one containing recipes from a particular country e.g. Italian, Indian, Chinese, French, etc. Then right at the centre of each magazine there was a whole menu with national recipes, depending on the country in topic. I used to decide which menu to try out and ask Mum to buy all the necessary ingredients. Poor Mum! Sometimes she had to keep looking for some ‘strange’ ingredients which were not found easily on our supermarket shelves, especially around 15 years ago. So that’s it, a 15 year old love story, evolving and developing into a professional hobby. I am now residing in Amsterdam, the land of tulips… or bridges … or coffee shops… call it what you prefer! I cook and experiment with dishes independently now. I must admit that I do not have the hard task my Mum had in Malta to find all the required ingredients, here there’s variety, not only in terms of quality, but also in terms of ingredients. Well then, you will be watching more about me as I start contaminating eatmania with my recipes and thoughts…. till then bon appetit!
