Emily Deschanel is a Vegan

April 25, 2012

Emily Deschanel is committed to animal rights, so it is only natural that she removed animal products from her diet.

"I've been a vegan for about 15 years," the Bones stars said. "I went to a pretty liberal high school and we watched Diet for a new America. And I just stopped eating and wearing animal products after that."

Deschanel also admitted that many of her diet choices came from her strict parents.

"No sugar cereal. Hot dogs with no nitrates. We weren't allowed to have McDonald's. When the babysitter came, we could have Kraft macaroni and cheese."

Nice, but the information and the article you're referencing are from a 2007 interview. That would have been better to use a more recent one.
I'm a little puzzled by the fact you mention what her parents allowed her to eat as a kid in kind of a negative way ("strict parents"), since their decision was far much better than allowing -when not just freely giving as so many parents- junk food as regular food. Also the question in the original article was "Did you grow up in one of those no sugar-cereal families?" and did not imply anything else, neither the answer.
I'm also puzzled that you wrote it as if it really had something to do with her diet choice. She probably kept some habits from that, yes, but going vegetarian (with the idea of being a vegan), that was her own choice since her parents weren't vegetarian and did not adopt a vegetarian diet when she made her choice.
